THIS QUESTION IS IMPORTANT AND HAS YET TO BE SUFFICIENTLY ANSWERED: Under the new policy, if I call to cancel a nonrefundable ticket before departure, must I immediately book a new flight with that ticket? Or can I just get credit valid for one year (From inital purchase) for future travel?</font>
You must book immediately. It becomes worthless after the time of departure or end of the day of departure (as I read them). So - call and schedule a flight 330 or 360 days out ($100) and then reuse when you need to ($100). Basically, the $100 fee has become a $200 fee. This is how I see at least the scenario of changing the return of a non-refundable, which is usually my problem.
