A couple of years ago AA flight from JFK to TPA on an MD80 during thunderstorm. Traffic crossing the runway when we were almost down caused us to go around..actually go above the storm and hang out for almost an hour. Low on fuel so we landed at MCO for fuel. A couple of passengers were so upset about the aborted landing they insisted they get off the plane. Took off from MCO for the flight back to TPA...after flying the pattern for a while longer finally landed in the middle of strong electrical storm. No ground crew could come out so we didn't get to the terminal for over an hour. Total time on the flight...almost 7 hours. One passenger said she wished she'd flown to Europe...at least she would have had a meal!
