I used angus ground sirloin, mixed with some onion and a nice texas salt and pepper spice blend from my local grocer, it is basically kosher salt, pepper, garlic, and a few other minor things. Then I put just a hint of breadcrumbs in it to help them hold together.
I then cooked a few slices of bacon, made a bit of grease, poured it all off in the visible form, and cooked the burgers on this base of thin bacon grease. Good stuff!
