As for the DYKWIA attitude of "I paid a LOT for the seat" so you "upgrader scum" should just leave me alone- that's ludicrous. When we ask we have no idea who upgraded and who paid, nor would it matter. We ask politely, and are quite willing to accept "no" as an answer. We expect nothing. We've never been turned down yet. Clearly, we've never asked you, fortunately

If you feel like a complete jerk asking on an upgrade, then don't. But don't try to insult others who happen not to share your issue.

Cheers.

+1!!!!!!!

I have a great marriage thank you very much. We basically slap on our Sony headphones and listen to our ipods during a flight. But it's nice for Mr. Zipadee to be able to point out something of interest to him in the SkyMall magazine and just to hold hands. And in light of the recent CO and US Air crashes, I would definitely prefer to be together.

As far as Sprite's argument that an upgrader SHOULD NEVER ask I think that's hogwash. An upgrader should NEVER expect someone to move or have an attitude when they won't. What's the harm in asking? And as I said in the case of a flight last November if I hadn't asked then there would have been two sets of traveling companions separated. As it was, I asked and Mr. Zipadee and I were together and the guy sitting next to Mr. Zipadee was able to sit next to his friend/coworker/lover/whatever (they were really funny and had some great jokes) who was sitting next to me originally. How on earth am I suppose to know if the person next to me booked their seat months ago or is a Gold who got upgraded an hour before the flight because an EXP originally in the seat decided to fly on an earlier flight???!!!
