I'm torn here, as I've been flying US for a long time and have been a pretty happy customer. Half of me is insulted by the whole idea behind the tier miles proposal and tempted to head off elsewhere on principle. The other half is sorely tempted to wreak revenge by going on a CP run this fall on the cheap fares and tier mile bonuses out there and then buy nothing but discount tickets and use miles for the others for awhile. I'm going to see what happens then make as rational a decision as I can once the dust settles. Part of the decision involves deciding whether this carrier is viable; this kind of stupidity really makes me wonder whether they've got a future.
