I once 'missed' a flight (showed up 15 minutes after boarding began due to some extended breakfast in the lounge). I did not rebook and rather went back to the office, called LH and asked for a refund of taxes and charges. No problem, got about EUR 70 back (it was a 99euro domestic ticket).
