3. Strict Ind Veg Meals (Jain) - No eggs, garlic, onion, or root vegetables.
I know SQ offers all three. I don't know if LH offers # 3 or not.
UA's description is confusing though.
UA's description of hindu meal is similar to #3, but the meal tends to be more like description #2, with dairy. Never any meat (no fish, poultry, eggs, red meat)
SQ's descriptions are confusing - the word "hindu" is typically a flag for vegetarian. #1 should be labeled Indian non-veg.
I also have never had a problem with LH getting my special meals boarded in over 30 flights in the past 2 years. With UA, I request the meal, confirm it again, and then reconfirm it yet again. And they still didn't board it.
I've never had a miss on so many segments on UA - I can't remember not getting it correctly boarded in over 12 years (including many domestic segments when meals used to be offered). The only time I sometimes don't get what I order is when my U/G clears day of departure or at the gate.
In fact, I've had misconnects at NRT - NRT ground staff not only re-accomodated me on the next flight to SFO, they marked on my BP that they pulled the special meal and reloaded it on my new flight. That's happened 2 out of 2 times I misconnected at NRT. That's service. ^
