Agree, and because of that had looked up a bunch of YTO-HNL fare rules to see if they had the 4 hour exception and didn't see one. However am not sure what I did yesterday as I just went back to pull the language to quote here and saw that it's 4 hours to/from Canada as well.

The tip on looking at the fare calculation line for X/LAX is still valid (that's what governs your ticket), but most likely your fare calculation will show LAX (i.e. a stopover).
