Happy New Year // Happy Chinese New Year FT's. (Haven't been around for a while),
Gung hei fat choi
This is my first trip to Japan and whilst i have studied the language in the past, i have no clue on what i can and should do.
Um?? Why have you not planned anything? You're going to Japan for 5 days!
What can and should i do whilst I'm there?
Here's a quick list- Pretty general list.
Major Stops: Tokyo Metropolitan Buildling (Shinjuku)- nice view at the top and free, Shibuya Crossing, Ginza-Expensive stuff, Harajuku- Young people hang out, Asakusa Shrine, Meiji Shrine/ Yoyogi Park(next door), imperial palace, Ueno Park + Ameyoko-For Cheap Shopping, Shinjuku-Goen(park),
What's a nice restaurant/bar/club?
Restaurants depend on your budget and taste like pretty much anywhere you go you'll find cheap to expensive food. Best food IMO is the one's that sell tickets out of the vending machines. There's a few good clubs in shibuya. I would avoid Roppongi- Expensive and where all the westerners hang out.
What things are cheaper in Japan (shopping wise, electronics) --> specifically i'm looking for a PS3.. (PAL/NTSC issues, Game issues?) --> Travelling with Euro's I'm hoping to land a bargain.
Go to Akihabara- It's famous for electronics...not necessarily cheap but you may find a good deal. Bring your passport and you'll save on taxes.
I have always wanted to take the bullet train, any day trips possible? Is OSAKA a possible day trip?
Osaka is too far for a day trip..i would suggest spending 2-3 days and do Osaka, Kyoto, Nara. If you can't make that day trips include: Kamakura- Big Buddha, Nikko, Possibly Hakone- Lake below Mt. Fuji.
Most importantly i'm taking my girlfriend along and would like to be a romantic, anyone know the romantic places in Tokyo? ;-)
Tokyo Tower- The japanese version of the Eiffel Tower. Romantic at night i would say. & also the Rainbow Bridge to Odaiba. Roppongi Hills?
