This is, at least, my understanding of the situation, and others may see it differently.
With the push then towards a butt in every seat this benefit would need to be thrown out the window. Possibly with plummeting load factors those middle seats in exit rows and the first few rows of Y might become open again. When, and if, as an EXP I get stuck in the back of the bus it sure would be nice not be squeezed out by a POS.
