Couldn't agree more. I do tell them that it isn't necessary to bow or curtsey at check-in, but they will insist.....
And I do try my best to be subtle about my status at boarding time, frequently I shout "Platinum Flyer coming though, move out of the way mere mortals", whilst flashing my luggage tag around like an undercover cop brandishing his warrant card at a drugs bust.

Yes. It's a luggage tag. A subtle greyish oblong of shiny plastic, with my name inside it and Qantas on the outside. It's me displaying my true tightarse nature and using something that someone else has paid for, and saves me wasting my money on other tags.
If people want to make it out to be more than that, then that's their lookout really.
