I was not aware that the rules were different previously, but the current rule which states that the extended warranty is equal to the manufacturer's original warranty up to a maximum of 3 years for Centurions (one year for Platinums), has been the policy at least since the autumn of 2007, which is when I had to use the extended warranty and researched the details.
