I have seen a few Golden Wing tags - that is a wonderful idea. My father has a Flight Deck one he still uses.

I actually do use a QF gold tag on one of my big checked bags. It's slightly snapped and is a great way to know it's my bag on the carousel

My swipe was mainly to people using the tags on the bus/train etc, and very obviously displayed on carry-on. Not on checked luggage of course, that's perfectly logical.
