To continue this off-topic digression, point-to-point might make incremental improvements, but I still contend that the RJ's are going to drive delays way up in a few years. Out of the infamous 8 most delay-prone airports (ATL, BOS, EWR, JFK, LGA, PHL, and SFO), only one would be considered a major hub with limited O&D traffic. However, this will depend on the extent that RJ's are actually used in these airports. To the degree that their use is limited to flights between small airports and efficient hubs, i.e. PIT or CLT, the impact might be mitigated.
