Cutting international routes and giving them to a Star Alliance member is not the way to increase revenue.

UA still flies on many routes that their alliance partners fly because it's the only way to increase revenue. The key benefit to such an agreement would allow LH to code-share on domestic US flights where US flies from a LH gateway city. Likewise for US flying into Frankurt or Munich.
