I am thinking of Eva and Cathay. As I have free R/T with SWA, I can originate from LAX or SFO with either of those around $900-1000. But no AAdvantage with either of them with that price economy class.

Another opion is Korean Air via Skymiles club. As I have enough WorldPark (65,000), I can get R/T Korean Air for free. The only catch point is a layover in Seoul for 8 hours on the return. Plus, I have heard of a big Korean Air crash in 1990s which makes me a lot nervous. I am not sure how much they have changed.
As I am elite, is there any chance of getting upgrade on Korean Air if I choose?
But again, I am quite nervous about Korean Air safety.
