"I've Flown For Over 20 Years and We've Always Closed The Galley 45 Minutes Before"
Was on UA 68 LIH - LAX. Went to galley and asked for a rum + orange juice. She promptly replied, "NO!", "But, you can have this glass of orange juice!!!" I asked why. She said, "We close the galley 45 minutes before arrival." I said, that I have never heard of that before. She said, "Well, I've flown for over 20 years and we have always closed the galley 45 minutes before arrival." "Sir, we are 10 minutes from landing!"
Needless to say, I did not get my drink.
The seat belt sign was still off. So, I went back to my Row 1B seat. Got comfortable, and wouldn't you know it. The pilot chimes in on the PA announcing that we are 18 minutes out from LAX and that he was going to turn on the seat belt sign shortly.
Funny thing is that my next flight, LAX IAD, I got not only a rum+orange juice shortly before arrival (definitely within 45 minutes mind you) but I went back and asked for a Coke. I said pour in same glass so as not to inconvenience him. He refused, and got me a clean glass for my Coke!!!
Want a difference in service.
