I've had the S60-equipped Nokia E61i for over a year now and it isnt slow at all. Not sure why anyone would insist that is "clunky" or "slow". Just not true. S60 is actually the most stable and effective smartphone OS I have used - ever. Only thing really lacking in the version of S60s was better browsing and multimedia experience. But with the newest versions of S60that seems to be taken care of, if Opera hadnt already done half of that job.

E61i also happens to also be one of the most durable phones I have owned. This thing has taken a physical beating and not a single sign of malfunction so far. I'm pretty impressed.

The N97 looks fantastic. I really wouldtn care about what technology they use to make the touchscreen - that is like LCD vs Plasma debates. It7s a bit of a red herring. The real issue is "does it do the job to your satisfaction?" and from the reviews I have seen, this N97 does that.

My beef with the phone is the keyboard. If they had to put one on it, then the phone needed to be thinnner and smaller overall. As is, I would rather just have the touchscreen than a bulky device with both.

Knowing Nokia, they will flog the hell out of this platform, so touchscreen devices without the keyboard will come in volume shortly, I am sure.
