Here's two books that I've learn a lot from:

The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby (He shows you a pic and how to shoot it - with all the settings, etc. When you're out in the field, you want to shoot a nice looking landscape, just flip to the landscape page in the book and set all the settings.)

Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera by Bryan Peterson
