Flew out of LAX on Friday morning. Waited in line outside for 45 minutes at 6am just to clear security. The line stretched almost to Terminal 2, but it did move. They also would pull people out of line if their flight time was close.

Flew out of PHL Sunday night for an 8pm flight. The line to clear security in Terminal C stretched back to the stairwell for the train, so I walked over to Terminal D where there was nobody in line, and then walked over to my gate from there. I would suggest that to anybody who has more than enough time between checking in and their departure. I think that Terminal F would also be a good choice if there you have carry-on only, and then take the shuttles from there. Terminal A is also a good option, with the exception of the late afternoons when all the Europe flights leave.
