They are angled flat (like AA, but flatter, wider, and much nicer looking). The seatguru seat map is completely wrong. I think IB has some (very bad) map on its site.
The two center seats in the first row (row number varies based on A340-300 v. A340-600) go flatter than the rest. The entire first row may be this way but I've only been in the center. Warning that these are also the bassinet seats...
