QR requires this and they are pretty strict about it as well. Oddly enough, although one has shown the card before using the first segment I have experienced it quite frequently that I had to show the CC again when checking in for the return flight. However, they are not the only ones. SA and SQ do this as well as I am sure quite few others.
IIRC, one option to avoid showing the card at check-in is to physically present the card to one of their offices any time before the flight.
No idea about how it works with TAs (virtual or not) as I have only booked directly with QR sofar.
