Thanks for the advice everyone. Have already booked more motels than hotels for the fly-drive, and paid a few dollars more for the flexible rates when I did this over Xmas, just incase the exchange rate worsened and I had to cancel. At this rate tho, it might have to be Super 8's and not even Holiday Inn Express'!

And don't worry Flying Winemaker, am quite aware this has more serious implications for many people. But I thought this was a BA forum, for talking about flights and related issues - hence the question. And I just wondered if I was the only person thinking their vacation plans might have to be downgraded slightly, or postponed until this crisis is over. When you slog your guts out all year long, those 2/3 weeks away from it all make a huge difference.
