Just to provide a counterpoint -- I'm moving away from E-On after they turned my £51/month bill into £193/month. Their basis for that was a ~£200 deficit built up over 10 months, which says to me I should have been paying £71/month -- not £193! I contacted them and they were having none of it, so I've switched -- my electricity will be provided by British Gas as of this Friday.
I can understand that - they've just doubled my monthly debit, which is a bit silly as we will soon be getting into spring and lower energy consumption. However they have always been very forthcoming in transferring the excess balance back into my bank account after asking for that. And at least I'll get a few more Tesco points in the meantime
