you don't get bonus miles on any airlines, just bonus ctrip points, which are pretty much useless.

Also, Free upgrade in China for US bound flight is very common, especially for UA PEK-IAD, PEK-SFO flight, many premier or premier associates got upgrade to business class with half empty main cabin.
