Angel - I adore Oxtail and it should - by the time that you eat it not be particulary fatty. It has to be slow cooked for hours and the fat skimmed regularly. It a dish such as our friend suggests - which sadly will not be on any airline menu of ours as they never serve offal (personally I love it).

Now even though I have very expensive tastes. I married a Policeman and have lived on a budget most of my married life. I have a husband who is extremely easy to feed - he is not mad on cooked rice or pasta but eats it rather than die from my hairbrush. He adores oxtail and cooks it quite competently. It is wonderful winter food.

To revert to the menus. Yes I like the Smoked Salmon and I think that the portion is more than adequate. The Fish Pie is my favourite (Sundance if there is any cheese it is only to give colour. It really does not taste - trust me). Remember that at altitude your taste buds are far less sensitive than on the ground so you need fairly pronounced flavours). Curries work well but stink the galley out more than fish ever will. Personally I loathe curry - I like the flavour but cannot bear the heat in the mouth.

FWIW I think that the main dishes rely too much on cheap produce and not enough on flavour. Pasta is often a good option as the more you cook and freeze pasta the better it gets for some strange reason.
