I've updated my post on HI Porte de Clichy (link in previous post) as my overall experience of 20-30 was far more positive than the post suggested. Note that it is a little walk to the nearest metro station.

I didn't like to HI Paris Opéra as I had the pleasure of following my next door neighbour's conversations (conversation, not argument) through the walls! Also, it's is fair walk from either of the closest metro stations. Definitely not worth the extra points, in my mind.

My favourite HI in Paris has to be Republique. Well appointed rooms (ask for view of interior courtyard). Excellent staff and 30 yards from the metro. It is worth the extra points, IMO.
