Nope, I was born in Chicago, a city I left at the advanced age of 4. I have visited both cities and I just felt that the area around the Glasgow station is pretty grotty, but then I haven't been there recently. Maybe all has changed for the better -- the center of Brum, which was terrible 20 years ago, is now much improved, so it can happen.
Now, now, some of the nicest cities in the world have grotty areas surrounding their rail stations,surely you ventured further than outside the station?
No idea when you last visited Glasgow or if it was the Central or the Queen Street station you are talking about but the city has improved in recent years.
