Unfortunately, for a lot of people with kids in school, summer is one of the only times available to take a nice, long trip to Europe with the family. Our oldest is in Kindergarten right now, and we are sorely missing being able to travel at length in April, May, September, whenever.

This fare definitely helps to offset that pain! I'd rather take UA and be able to have E+ or use my SWUs (and earn e-500s, CR-1s, etc.), but this fare + $500 one way upgrade fee (space available, of course) is close to what UA was charging for the same flights last summer (no guarantee of this year's fares, of course). I also think that the US 333 is a nice plane, with more comfortable seats than UA's 777s, and the PHL international *G lounge is very nice.

Thanks, OP! We were able to book PIT-PHL-FRA, 7/3-17, for $494 pp.
