Actually, after this change was announced last year I concluded that without the ability to upgrade to HI, the miles are pretty much worthless to me (I rarely book award tickets). That being the case, I don't really need 1P for anything that I wouldn't get as a 2P (essentially, E+ and sufficiently early boarding to stow my bag in the overhead).

Consequently, I've decided not to make any extra efforts to renew my 1P status. If it happens, then it happens; but there are no MR or 'extra' trips in my future.
