How much should one expect to have on hand for a weeks stay just for tipping, and/or is there any other reason to bring cash?
Thanks.
There is no reason to bring any cash.
While the resort accepts all currencies, all prices are posted in US dollars. With the 10% surcharge applied to everything, many don't tip. But when you're in the mood to tip, its easy to add additional gratuity to any room charge.
When you arrive, regardless of room rate paid, they charge $2,500 to your credit card. This serves as a deposit of sorts to cover all room charges. And if you're here for more than 5 days, you'll definitely be well over the $2.5k mark
Speaking of which, my 6-day reward stay ended up costing about $3.2k. I visited the spa one day, had a few nice meals, and upgraded to the deluxe accommodations. Even so, I found this place to be simply superb and well worth the investment of cash + points. Definitely my most luxurious experience in the HHonors network.
