One advantage of DECT is that it is on 1.9MHz band, which it doesn't share with anything else. 2.4GHz is competing with WiFi, and propagation, esp through walls, etc is significantly worse at 5.8GHz, which is the disadvantage of phones using that band.

I haven't actually used a DECT phone recently, but all other things being equal it should perform better than the alternatives.
