Thanks for the info... I've always wondered about that. I have a friend who's one of those 1K guys and when he's feeling generous he'll give me a stack of onboard drink tickets he never uses (because he's always flying business/executive)...

When you check into the International RCC, the desk agent will ask you if you'd like some beverages; if you say yes, you get two drink chits that can only be used in the RCC lounge (they have different free drink chits for in-flight drinks). Mind you, I've only used the International RCC at SFO, and not elsewhere - it might be different at ORD, IAD or LAX.

I usually luck out because people will come into the RCC and only use one of their chits and then offer up the remaining one, and I'm always smart enough to say "oh, yes please" and smile. Apparently some people don't like to get sloshed before a 15 hour flight to SYD.....I never understood that And now that UA has started charging for drinks in Y on trans-atlantic AND trans-pacific flights, its important to get your buzz on early in the lounge.

They come in handy when you are in the domestic RCC, as the offerings there are slim.
