Thai's professionalism (or lack of)

I recently flew EVA to BKK, then while there, I took a THAI flight to Sydney. They difference in professionalism between the two airlines is striking. EVA sends you emails for 2 days before your flight to update you on your flight status etc. They send you a Text Message a few hours before your flight to remind you of your flight and the flight time. They will call you if there is the slightest change in flight time or equipment change. Thai never confirms your flight and doesn't inform you of any changes. I had booked seats in the back of the plane for my flight to Sydney so I could sit with my friend alone (the 777-300 has some 2 only seats at the rear). When we arrived at BKK airport, the checkin agent informed us that they had changed the plane and we had been moved. Not even together! I had to sit in the middle seat between two strangers. I was pretty pissed. I had actually called the day before to confirm my flight, and nothing was mentioned about my seats being changed.
