Spent a lot of time at this place

As a non status GP member I was given a small room; as a Gold member I was given the business class upgrade

the property is a couple of blocks from the Kings Palace and right on one of the light rail lines. I do not know which one though as i did not take it. It does go to the Theatre station though

Within walking distance is the harbor and pretty much everything else; in the summer its much more friendly walking than in Dec LOL

Lobby.. you can enter from either side although in the end you come up to the same place. the Lobby has a bar area to the right and a restaurant to the right. (as you walk in) The bar is not too bad; pricey but what isn't in Norway. The b/f that I'd get with my rate was nothing short of excellent and it was a full buffet that had too much to describe. If you enjoy seafood, this is a good one. Check in could have lines if you came in behind a busload of tourists. they do have a closet to hold your bags as well. The lobby is quite busy.

Downstairs is the garage (extremely expensive to park > roughly 60-75 bucks USD a day depending on the NOK exchange rate. Its a tight fit for a small car much less anything midsize or larger. On the lower level is a small indoor pool and a health club with a couple of treadmills, some small dumb bells and other light weight machines. There is a small locker room as well.

Rooms > business class is a larger (good sized I must say) room on the corner. Free pay per view and yeah it includes the soft porn which you have to have them shut off (like I did = kids ya know); water pressure sucks in this building though no matter what room I had and the bathrooms were tiny. There isn't much space to unpack and put your clothes on longer stays. Forget it if there is more than one person traveling. the bedding needs some improvement as they really didn't have much in the way of blankets even in the winter. The curtains are not up to speed and this plays a major role in the summer when its light 20 + hours a day. the sun comes thru the curtains and around the edges as they never seem to fit the entire window. it takes me a week just to get used to this in the summer. The rooms in general are somewhat worn but if you can get the BC room its pretty good.

there is a 7-11 across the street and a couple of decent restaurants. I also found a cool little local pub about a block away. Its up the hill (the street Y's) behind the hotel as you go up hill. take either Y and go to your first cross street and then make like you are going to the other part of the Y and it will be a small place on the harbor side of the street. It was a cool place. There is another deli type place across the street as well that is pretty good.

Flybussen stops right here at the main entrance and the last time I took this it was in the summer and cost about 500 NOK for 4 of us; two kids were free.. I think that was the cost.. i am guessing here trying to remember.. I could be quite wrong about this. The bus does run every 20 minutes or so from the hotel though and it makes about five or six stops prior to Gardenmoen and takes a half hour to 45 minutes or so. You could walk to the National Theatre and take the train as well.
