I got the Citi Platinum American Express CC about 7 months back
I canceled it last month because I don't use it very much, I don't like carrying so many credit cards in my wallet, and I didn't want to pay the $99 annual fee for the second year when I almost never use the card.
However, even though the card is canceled I read somewhere online that the 3 free airport lounge visits are valid for 1 year from date of membership.

Can someone please explain how I get to these VIP lounges at SFO/LAX/OAK/BUR airports? and how do I access the lounge without a citi plantinum american express card?
and what exactly are the benefits of the lounge besides drinks or food?
