Or perhaps I have just missed the boat. Perhaps some people who know the area better can offer suggestions as to what to do in and around Chandler. Thanks.
Chandler itself is a city of about 250,000 and has plenty to do to keep someone busy for a few days. There is a downtown area, with some shops and restaurants. This particular property is almost walking distance to the mall; not necessarily a reason to visit the area, and I wouldn't recommend walking as the roads are very busy. But there are several things to do within a 5 minute ride.
The Wildhorse Pass property is located on the Gila River Indian Reservation, and is extremely isolated. It is probably 10 miles from this new Hilton property, yet they seem worlds away.
I am a bit biased as I live in Chandler. But if you didn't want to be there the whole time, it would take about 20 min to Old Town Scottsdale from this Hilton, a straight shot up the AZ Loop 101 (Price/Pima) Freeway. Similar distance to downtown Tempe (Mill Ave) and maybe 30 min to downtown Phoenix. It would take about 15 min to the Price/Apache Light Rail Park & Ride, where you could then easily get to Tempe, PHX, downtown PHX, uptown PHX, etc.
I'd suggest checking the
West regional forum, or even checking out TripAdvisor if you are planning another trip to this area, or shoot me a PM.
