At the link provided above, it says,

"Companions of elite members also exempt from baggage fees"

And at the 1K page, it says,

"Up to eight companions who are booked in the same itinerary as an elite member are allowed two free bags up to 50 lbs each."

Traveling companion is on a different PNR so I'll be at the mercy of the check-in agent on the day of travel.
