I have flown many miles and I have lucked out and had some awesome seatmates. I enjoy those who like to talk and I have learned quite a deal from them. If they are pleasant then all is well.
I've met some interesting people too. I prefer chatting to reading (or the in-flight entertainment) and run about 70-30 in getting seatmates to talk with me during the flight.
