I lost MVPG taking some travel from AS to VX (though I may requalify on a challenge, once those come in later this month)... the thing is, I don't plan on whining about it. I knew the rules going in (status is for a calendar year only, no soft drop, etc.).
WN is perfectly fine if you don't mind coach (for that matter, AS is OK as well, with maybe a little less seat pitch, and for routes where AS and WN fly, usually the prices are similar). Obviously you don't mind flying coach if you've shifted your business to WN. So what's the problem? The only thing you'd really get as an MVP as opposed to a non-status is maybe an F upgrade at 48 hours and some mileage, plus some priority on standby/irrops. If getting considerably MORE than that wasn't appealing enough for you to continue flying on AS, I don't see why you shouldn't just go for whoever's coach is cheapest/most convenient and just shrug your shoulders- most coach seems pretty generic across the industry (says someone who just flew US and DL this weekend).
