This surely must be covered in an FAQ somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it...

Is there any resource anywhere which lists the guidelines of different airlines or different lounges as to whether or in what circumstances they will allow access to their facilities:

1) AFTER the qualifying flight. It is more often AFTER a long-haul flight that it would be really useful to have access to a premium lounge (with shower facilities, for example) than before the long flight.

2) when flying on another carrier. For example, I theoretically have Star Alliance lounge access being gold on US, and Sky Team lounge access with the Delta Reserve card, but if I am flying Y on Cathay, say, will either the Star Alliance or Sky Team lounges admit me?
