long haul in Y - where to sit on 777?
Hello all
I find myself traveling BOM-ATL in Y in a month or so. No choice of airline (federal employee). No status with Delta, no Delta miles to burn for an upgrade so I am resigned to being in Y. Unless there's a way to burn CO miles for an upgrade... I have a bunch of those... can I do this somehow? Or UA miles, but that seems even less likely.
Assuming not, I would appreciate any comments on where to make it the most bearable. I'm not a good sleeper on long haul even when upfront, so I am not looking forward to the 18 hours. Flight# is 185. Equipment code is "77L" so I am assuming this is the 777-200LR. Agency put me in row 32, near the front of Y (row 30, the first Y row, and apparently a plum row according to Seatguru, is full). I moved myself back to a window seat in row 44, by the exit. I understand there will be a tendency for folks to congregate there, but I figure I will at least get the legroom. Any opinions on this being a bad idea (i.e., it will be stinky behind the loos after 12 hours or so in the air and I should move myself forward again)?
Thanks!
