as others have suggested, unless you are very short on cash, ~$300 is not a very good value for 25k miles, especially on DL where last minute availability is decent, open jaws + stopovers are permitted, and sat stays aren't required.

many FTers employ a $.02/mile conversion when deciding whether or not to redeem miles. bna-lax in Y typically falls well below the implied $500. on the contrary, lots of people use that route soley for the purpose of building miles (and status) that yield dividends in other situations. if bna-lax is your main route and you never take vacations, you might want to consider WN because you'll earn free flights quickly, which you can redeem on the same route at a moment's notice.

BUT I am in a different boat than most, I am seeing it as getting a free flight, for which I would otherwise have had to pay for, not necessarily getting the HIGHEST value for my miles. I know I am looked down upon for saying this, but pay 55 dollars a year out of the change jar I accumulate over that year, earn a free flight to see parents whenever I want. May not be the best use of miles, but as a poor college student, paying 55 for a plane ticket is MUCH better than paying 300-? however much. I will also use it for when my GF's parents pay for her to go on vacation and I can't afford to go because a plane ticket is too much $ (which has happened several times), situations like that. Am I now banned from this site? :-)
