I seem to remember from my days of slumming it announcements in Y along the lines of "There's plenty of booze on board but if you would like wine with dinner please ask for it at the same time as your drink from the bar". Never worried me as it's surprising how many quarter bottles fit into the back seat pouch. In fact it seemed to be an advantage as it speeded up the occasionally agonisingly slow dinner service.
