He would be a couple nights away from DIA anyway... Compared to switching hotels every two days, is it worth it? You're right it's the quickest way to get status, but he might very well be comped to Gold. Hilton does that easily (and in my case they did well, since they got my loyalty since...) to Gold. He could even ask for a fast track to DIA based on nights...
