I have to challenge that assertion based on my experience with Hampton Inns (plus, you can't claim "all" Hampton Inns are the same unless you've literally stayed at all of them, and there must be hundreds!).

There are "basic" Hamptons, but there are also "fancier" Hamptons. They are by no means identical in room quality/amenities/furnishings. (And I believe there are even a few in historic buildings whose architectural features have been preserved/restored, though that isn't typical for Hamptons.)

....There's a thread on the Hilton board about the Hampton breakfast buffet, but I find it pretty pretentious and snobbish....
You mean that thread where people are whining about the (pre-made patty) "eggs," the lack of a truly high-quality hot breakfast, etc.?
