April and May have great weather in Rio. I usually book my holidays in Rio during April/May, you have great weather, sunny and stable.
GRU is by far the best gateway for your trip. It has far more connections as compared to EZE/SCL. Perhaps you may want to buy a TAM or LAN South America Pass to facilitate your trip.
