Hmm. Even when I was 2P for 6-month period in 2003, I got two op-ups. One on ICN-SFO and the other on SFO-ICN. As matter of fact, the first UA flight I flew as 2P or as UA elite got op-upped. The registration of the aircraft was N227UA. Took 8J, bulk-head window seat, and it was nice.

FYI, my op-up for the last year was
KIX-SFO on UA
ICN-SFO on UA
DTW-FRA on LH
CDG-IAD on UA
ORD-EWR on UA
In fact, the amount was not much different from my past 5-year as 1P, except that I got my very first op-up on domestic. If you choose the right flight at the right time, op-up is not something unusual. Nonetheless, I assume that the chance of getting op-up will decline once UA finishes the seat upgrade which results reduction of C seats and F seats.
