I have another question, and I hope you don't mind me using this thread to ask it. I recently became FO, so I now have access to preferred seating. I am traveling to MIA next week. Another friend (non status and on a separate PNR) will be joining me, once she gets into ATL from CLE. While I was logged into my account, I put in her confirmation number to check her seat assignment. It was willing to let me change her seat to a preferred seat. Should I be able to do this? And if I change the seat for her, will it hold?
In my experience, you can select the seats and confirm, but it boots the seat right back to the originally selected one (unless you are on the same confirmation code)
i've gotten, however, quite amused in asking phone representatives to change the seat assignments:
"but, he's not elite"
"i know/ I am. and we are traveling together"
"oh, one moment please"
etc.
you will most likely be able to seat her in the front on the latter flight, not too sure about the CLE - ATL segment but be nice, ask and smile and you never know...
