I agree. I'm in the process of claiming my Cat 7 (at a hotel soon to be Cat 8 so it would be a double whammy) Travel Package.
I posted a similar question on the MR forum (re non-US airlines generally, IIRC) a few weeks ago and didn't get any answers to it, so this is probably a better place for it.
I think VS is a good choice, but don't forget the current bonus on MR transfers to BA when you make your decision.
